For the dancers, and the dreamers.
Hi, I’m Crystal. Photographer, pole instructor, professional hype woman, and occasional maker of very elaborate plans involving fog machines.
I've had a camera in my hands on and off since I was 16, but Crystal Captures really started in 2024 when I began photographing people in my dance community. Turns out I really like photographing people doing the amazing things.
These days that might mean a musician under questionable red stage lights (no worries, we'll still get THE shot), an aerialist ten feet off the ground, someone finding themselves in boudoir, or a portrait that got significantly more elaborate than originally planned.
My shoots are collaborative and pretty relaxed. I'll direct you when you need it, leave you alone when you don't, and absolutely lose my mind behind the camera when we get the shot.
When I'm not taking photos, I'm usually teaching or taking a pole class, writing, working on some questionable DIY project, or dreaming up another shoot I don't have enough storage space for.
Based in Portland/Vancouver and available throughout the PNW.

You don't need to know what you're doing.
Seriously. Most people aren't professional models. I'll help with posing, hands, angles, where the to look, and all the other things that suddenly become impossible the second someone points a camera at you.
Not your first rodeo? Great. I'm not going to micromanage you. We'll play.
I like movement. I like weird light. I like catching the thing that happens between poses. And if I suddenly yell “DON'T MOVE”, something excellent is probably happening.
